Earlier this week, we discussed writing Query Letters with the fairly helpful Writers' Digest. Now it's time to step into the ring with the big dogs. That's right, I'm talking about Query Shark!
For those of you running outside of the premier writing circles, Query Shark is a blog run by an outstanding writer. Each article is a real query, written by a budding author, parsed and eviscerated and served back steaming hot.
Your homework, if you choose to accept, is to read EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE this weekend.
I know, that sounds like a lot of work, but you have to trust me. These are some of the best tips and tricks for writing these letters I've ever seen. "Keys to the kingdom," as an old Marine captain once told me.
So take a trip over to Query Shark and start your lessons. Next week, we're going to be looking at one of my favorite parts of writing: Dialogue.
And, if you're getting ready to submit some letters, check out this handy guide from the site.
